Investigators still do not have an answer for the cause of the powerful explosion at the "Eida" gas station near Brryl in Tirana.
The three injured employees were questioned and stated that they were refueling a vehicle at the time of the explosion, but they cannot say where it all started. According to their testimonies, there was also a gas cylinder near the offices, which is being verified by the investigation team as the cause of the explosion.
Investigators are working to determine whether the explosion was related to the vehicle being refueled, a defect in the gas pump, or a leak from the cylinder.
Question marks over the cause of the incident were raised in the first hours after the explosion. The firefighter raised suspicions that it could have happened in the fuel offices, which were completely destroyed, while ISHTI gave another preliminary version.
"It is suspected that the fire started in a vehicle on the territory of the gas station, which was also accompanied by an explosion," said ISHTI.
The three injured employees are out of danger. The administrator, technical director and fuel manager were accompanied to Police Station No. 1 yesterday.
In parallel, all documentation of the gas station is being verified, to check its activity, the controls carried out over the years and whether it had the relevant permits provided for by law. The gas station with the trade name "Eida" is registered as "Skënderi G" sh.pk and is owned by Frident Kuqi.
