US to verify with experts the skills and standards of the Albanian army

The US will send a group of experts to Albania to make sure the Albanian army meets the skills targets and standards NATO requires.

"Soon, American experts will launch a new programme to ensure albania meets NATO's capability objectives. The United States is proud to be allied with Albania," US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim said.

The ambassador's message was conveyed on the 13th anniversary of our country's membership in the Alliance.

"On 1 April 2009 Albania officially became a member of NATO. Since then, American and Albanian forces have shed blood, sweat and tears together in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo & other countries. Albania's role and value as an ally in NATO are increasingly stable," Kim writes.

The ambassador also recalls NATO's largest military exercise last year in the Western Balkans, as well as turning the Kucova air base into an Alliance tactical base.
