The agreement between the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha to resolve the deadlock created in the Parliament seems to be close.
The communications between the heads of the parliamentary groups, Bledi Çuçi and Gazment Bardhi , show that there is an agreement to solve two of the main demands of the opposition; electoral reform and investigative commissions.
The most important issue for PD led by Sali Berisha is the electoral reform and for 5 months the democratic deputies have blocked the parliament demanding the dismissal of Enkelejd Alibeaj and the election of Oerd Bylykbashi to the post of co-chairman of the special electoral reform commission.
But the commission's mandate ends next Thursday and the socialists have decided not to extend it, putting an end to the debate about who represents the opposition in this commission.
Sources indicate that there is an agreement between the two camps that the reform should be carried out by the laws commission, more precisely by a subcommittee set up by the laws where pd and ps have an equal number of representatives and this mechanism is acceptable to both parties.
In relation to the PD's requests for the establishment of investigative commissions, it has been agreed that out of the 8 requests filed by the opposition, two commissions will be set up after reviewing their object.
In order to formalize this compromise reached after the talks between Bledi Cuc and Gazment Bardhi, with the help of the ambassadors of the EU and Great Britain, a conference of chairmen is expected to be convened to officially introduce the establishment of investigative commissions into the parliament's calendar.
And if everything goes according to the forecasts, then the opposition protests will be closed and the next meeting of the parliament on March 18, will be a normal session with discussions and debates on the agenda.
