The wife of Aleks Nika and the uncle of the deceased, Mark Nika , will testify today in SPAK .

Nika's wife, Rajmonda Nika,  as it seems and from the footage, appeared at SPAK at 10:00, while the victim's uncle, Mark Nika,  will testify at 12:00.

They are called as persons who have knowledge and to provide details for the investigation, after the reopening of the investigation on January 21.

After a year of legal objections by Rajmonda Nika, the wife of the late Aleks Nika, SPAK obeyed the Supreme Court and registered "January 21" the day before.

Despite the fact that former prime minister Sali Berisha, former interior minister Lulzim Basha and former guard commander Ndrea Prendi are mentioned in the denunciation, SPAK registered the case without their names.

In the press release, SPAK says that it registered the proceedings for murder under qualifying circumstances, abuse of office in cooperation and actions that prevent the discovery of the truth, since as the Special Prosecutor's Office adds, it is suspected that they may have been committed by former high-ranking state officials during the exercise of duty.

As ordered by the Supreme Court, SPAK declares itself competent for these investigations, and requests to withdraw the files of January 21 from the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana in order to discover the killers of Aleks Nika.

Both the Supreme Court and SPAK mention the decision of the European Court that in November 2023 said that the possible responsibility of the command chain of the Guard had not been clarified.

In this decision of Strasbourg, where it was shown that the state had failed to investigate the demonstration of January 21, 2011, it is said that the investigation was focused on the individual responsibility of the officers of the Guard and not on the sequence or nature of the orders that could have been given by the chain of command.

As other problems were counted the deletion of incident records and the failure to follow key investigation tracks such as bullet marks found at human height on the iron fence surrounding the Prime Minister's Office.

These shortcomings raised the suspicion that the authorities had tried to divert or interfere with the investigation - considered Strasburg.

From the murder of four demonstrators on the boulevard, justice has cleared only two of them, Ziver Veizaj and Faik Myrtaj, while the murder of Aleks Nika and Hekuran Deda still remains without a perpetrator.

But the family members of the four victims demand that the investigation also reveal the officials who ordered the shooting.
