Rama responds again to 'Reporters Without Borders': The media is not captured, the opposition dominates the media space

Prime Minister Edi Rama has continued his long-distance response to the Reporters Without Borders organization on press freedom in our country. Rama says that the analysis made by an Albanian start-up based on artificial intelligence, which has monitored over 4,500 articles in 43 media outlets over 66 days, shows a dominance of the opposition voice in the media, specifically 3.57 times higher than that of the government.

Rama also shares the findings of the AMA report, which states that the opposition held 60.12% of political television time during the month of March, while the government itself occupied a much smaller share.

Opposition voice: 3.57 times louder than government.
Critical sources: 4.67 times more dominant than pro-government ones.
Critical tone: 6.4 times stronger than positive coverage.
More than 15 opposition figures consistently present in the headlines.
Opposition mentions: 1,828 versus 925 for the Prime Minister and government combined.

Even individually, opposition leaders are more present, with one of them exceeding the Prime Minister's mentions in the media.

And in the headlines themselves:
368 direct quotes from the opposition versus 108 from the government, a 3.4 times greater dominance.

The harshest accusations against the government and against me personally circulate freely in about 70 titles, while there is no evidence of any symmetrical level of attacks on anti-government media, or even on political opponents. Because there simply isn't one.

And according to the state regulator, AMA, the opposition held 60.12% of political television time during March, while the government itself occupied a much smaller share.

These are not perceptions.
They are measurable facts.

In a truly “captured media” environment, none of this would exist.
Not the dominance of opposition voices.
Not the overwhelming dominance of critical narratives.
Not the free circulation of extreme accusations.
And certainly not the majority of television political space for the opposition.

We take concerns about media ownership and the working conditions of journalists very seriously. These are real issues and need to be addressed. But to completely ignore the empirical reality and present Albania as a country with a captured media and journalism under political attack?

At best, this makes the analysis not only incomplete, but also poorer. And as a result, the ranking itself biased.

PS It will be for another day to explain my theory of how you can win elections by doing the exact opposite of media control: by allowing the entire wave of anti-government political venom to fill the public space and, in this way, show ordinary citizens the worthlessness of those behind it.
