Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj spoke this evening from the 110th uninterrupted protest against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, reiterating the demand for his resignation.
Vatnikaj said that protesters will continue to gather every day in front of the Prime Minister's Office, and on Thursday they will be again near Parliament.
Speaking about the protest in front of Parliament, the activist claimed that several citizens have been arrested by the police without reason, while emphasizing that the protesters will not retreat despite police interventions.
Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj: We are on the 110th day of non-stop protest. We come here, to this square, with determination to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. We have demanded that this system of violence end.
Today we were in front of the Parliament to remind those MPs that they do not represent us. With the same violence as that of Zvërnec, many citizens were arrested today during the protest at the Parliament, without any reason by the government police.
The violence and police repression did not stop there, because the men who were near Police Station No. 1 were also arrested by Eagles officers, exceeding the law.
The right to protest and assemble is a fundamental constitutional right and we will be here every day in front of the Prime Minister's Office, and we will be in Parliament sessions every Thursday to say that we recognize our rights and you will not intimidate us, neither with police, nor with the Eagle forces, nor with violence, nor with gas, nor with spray, and no arrest will stop us from demanding resignation.
We are here not only to show the government that we will not give up, but also to look each other in the eye, to tell them that we will be here every day, that there is no other path than the path that leads to freedom, to justice, to dignity. There is no other path.
We have chosen to live in our country, we have chosen to build our families with honest work, we have chosen not to become criminals or patronizers, but we have chosen to be here and to stand here in the face of this power that not only steals from us, criminalizes us, but also attempts to oppress us with violence.
