Yesterday, the Director General of the Fire Service, Arben Cara, was reported to have resigned from his post, at a time when our country is facing a situation aggravated by fires that have engulfed almost the entire territory of Albania. But it seems that the truth is different.

A document is circulating in the media, where the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, on Monday, August 10, has taken a decision to revoke the powers of the director of the Fire Service. This order revokes the decision taken by Taulant Balla, when the latter headed the Ministry of Interior.

Also, the document published by Skyweb.al states that Lamallari's order to remove the powers of the Fire Service director comes into effect immediately. The document implies that Cara was not appointed as Fire Service director, but simply had the powers to exercise the duty.

What is striking is that Cara resigned yesterday, one day after the official decision. It remains to be clarified whether the former director of the Fire Service resigned and Lamallari made the decision to revoke his powers, or whether Cara left after the Minister of Interior took the official act.

Cara's resignation was met with surprise by the public, as our country has been facing a situation aggravated by fires for more than 10 days. He was seen last weekend participating in the field in the battle with the flames that threatened the city of Kruja. It is expected that there will be an official reaction to this case.
