Italian media have revealed today important details regarding the sensational event of the arrest of the former mayor of Vora, Agim Kajmaku and his nephew, Edmond Kajmaku
"Durrës-Monterubbiano: Cocaine express". Il Resto del Carlino says this sentence may sound like a movie title, but it is actually reality.
Agim Kajmaku and his nephew, Edmond, were handcuffed after being caught with 20 kilograms of cocaine. If this amount were put on the market it would reach profits of up to 1 million euros. Monterubbiano was the crossroads of cocaine, as according to Italian media it is suspected that it was then distributed to other cities in Italy or taken as far as the Netherlands.
The plan was almost perfect. The vast cocaine market was managed by an isolated Marche village, very close to the ports of Ancona and Bari. But something went wrong. The carabinieri found the drugs inside the flower vases that had been bought by the company, where Agim Kajmaku was a shareholder, while it is already owned by his wife. This has led to the investigation extending to Albania.
Italian media say that in recent days in the port of Durres has been exercised control in one of the trucks of the Albanian company. There were discovered some secret places where it is suspected that drugs were introduced, however, no amount of drugs was found inside the vehicle. Authorities therefore suspect that this is the scheme of how they managed to move hundreds of kilograms of drugs.
Il Resto Del Carlino says that the Albanian police has managed to discover a bank account in the name of Agim Kajmaku's wife with 2 million dollars inside. Under investigation is the origin of this money. Investigators have also verified that Kajmaku traveled from Tirana to Ancona by plane 5 days before the amount of drugs was seized. Later, he traveled to Monterubbiano with his nephew, using a rental car.
According to Italian media reports, Kajmaku's nephew, Edmond Kajmaku, 34, lived in Monterubbiano before his arrest and was previously the director of UKT.
"So two unsuspecting people: A politician and an important former executive. However, both have moved whole kilograms of drugs with the assumption that they are supported by the Albanian organized crime ", writes the Italian media.
The former mayor of Vora was arrested together with his nephew on May 27 in Italy after an anti-drug operation where 20 kg of cocaine were found. The narcotics were hidden inside plant vases that had been purchased by the company owned by Kajmak.
