The wife and daughter of the Albanian Ilirjan Minaj have given another version of the murder of the 61-year-old, details that make the event even more shocking and further aggravate the position of the Italian killer.
41-year-old Riccardo Stefani claims that he killed the Albanian in self-defense, since it was the 61-year-old who attacked him first.
At this point, the Italian says he entered the house to protect himself. As Minaj, according to the killer's version, hit the door with force, enough to split it in half, he took the knife. He didn't open the door, but kicked it past.
But this whole version is rejected by the victim's daughter and wife.
"Stefan's mother had closed the door of the house, leaving her son outside. The door was not broken by my father, but by Stefani, who entered by force to take the knife", stated the victim's daughter, G. Minaj.
The reason for the incident, according to Stefani, was the previous jokes they had had with each other. But even this claim is denied by the Albanian's family.
"There were never any jokes. And that night, there was no legal self-defense on Stefani's part," they add.
Ilirjan Minaj was killed by the Italian on Friday evening in Bibbiano of Reggio Emilia. The serious incident happened in the palace where the author and Minaj's granddaughter lived. The 61-year-old, who had been living in Italy for 20 years, had gone to meet his granddaughter, when he met Stefani on the stairs.
The causes of this serious event still remain to be clarified, above all because of the two versions that the parties already give.
Meanwhile, it is also expected that the results of the autopsy on the body of the Albanian will be made public.
Riccardo Stefani was a drug and alcohol abuser and had mental health problems. He was also denounced more than once for violence by his mother.
