"There was no hope for Qerimin", who was the 24-year-old Albanian who died in the tragic accident in Italy

Italian media have identified the young Albanian, who died Sunday evening in a road accident in Italy. The victim is 24-year-old Qerim Gjepali.

The young man, who was born in Durrës, lived for several years in Massa Lombarda.

He was traveling as a passenger in a Mercedes CLK on that tragic Sunday. The collision with a tree was fatal for Qerim. He died immediately at the scene. The driver, a 23-year-old also of Albanian origin, and a 19-year-old Romanian who was traveling in the back seat were injured.

The driver was taken to the hospital by helicopter, while the Romanian suffered minor injuries. The dynamics of the accident still remain to be determined by the police in Imola.

However, what is clear is that the collision with the tree was very strong. So strong that there was no hope for Qerim.

At the moment all tracks are open. From the malfunction of the vehicle, to a sudden illness of the driver to a maneuver to avoid an obstacle on the road.

The police are expected to determine the speed at which the vehicle was traveling at the time of the accident.

"So far it seems that no other car has been involved. We are working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident. We will understand more after the results of the toxicological and alcohol tests, to which the driver was subjected", said the Imola police.

The tragic news of the accident was immediately spread in the village where Gjepali lived. He was very well known there causing sadness. Other media reports that so far it has not been decided when the funeral ceremony will take place. Since 2016, Gjepali had gone to Massa Lombarda. Likewise, his family also lived in the municipality of Ravenna.
