Vlora Police have announced the arrest of three people, suspected of being the perpetrators of the hostage-taking of a 39-year-old man from Kosovo.
According to the police, the incident is related to an unpaid debt, while the young man is suspected of being held hostage for about two weeks in an apartment in the "Osman Haxhiu" neighborhood, in the city of Vlora.
While the three arrested are expected to appear before the black squads, the defense has prepared its materials. The files submitted by the lawyers include videos and photographs, which show the young man from Kosovo, described by the police as a victim of the hostage-taking, together with the arrested persons.
In the footage and photographs presented, the people appear to be having lunch together and behaving calmly, which according to the defense indicates that they knew each other and that this is not a hostage situation.
According to the defense, the young man from Kosovo came to Vlora with his suitcase and personal clothing, with the intention of staying there for a period of time. The defense also emphasizes that the complaint for hostage-taking was made by his sister, who lives in Sweden.
The lawyers claim that the young man was asking his family for money to repay a debt for which he had acted as guarantor, and that the case has been misinterpreted as hostage-taking, according to them.
The Judicial Police services also found a suitcase with his personal clothes and belongings in the apartment where the young men and their hostage were allegedly found, a fact that, according to the defense, supports the claim that he had gone there to stay.
Although the date and time of recording are not clearly visible in the footage, the videos show that the people know each other and communicate freely.
Investigations into this matter continue, while the court is expected to evaluate the evidence presented by both sides./top channel
