Qamile Received

Qamile Marra is 114 years old and they have stopped giving her a pension with the claim that she has passed her age. She is from the village of Ferras in Kuçova and her family members have encountered difficulties in receiving their old-age pension.

Her son, Hysen Marra, told reporters that in January 2023, his mother could not receive the monthly pension of 7,700 lek because they made her dead. According to him, family members must declare at the offices of the Kuçovo Civil Registry if their mother is alive or not every year. They did not know this, so they did not receive the pension payment.

Even the son's daughter-in-law, Rrahime Marra, says that her mother-in-law did not receive her pension because she was told that she was over the age and that documents are needed to prove if the old woman is still alive.

"I am Qamila's bride. We went to get our pension this month, in January. We got the reward, we didn't get the pension. The man went there to complain that a certificate is needed. We found them and took them. We went then and they told us that he has reached the age. What's this, I've reached the age and don't growl anymore. There are God's days. God gave it to him. As much as you get, 70, we do not ask the state for money. I will not throw the old woman on the street. We are all three pensioners. She has passed her age, she is 114 years old. Let it be 200, she has her days", said the bride.

114-year-old Qamil Marra is in good health and says she does not suffer from any disease. She has 6 children, 4 daughters and 2 sons, where the eldest daughter is 85 years old. The elderly woman indicated that she has worked for 35 years in an agricultural cooperative and for this she receives a pension of 7700 Lek. She feeds her babies and even does the housework and washes her own clothes.

"We entered the cooperative. What men did, we did. We have been good, but we have also suffered a lot to suffer. You had no one at home. To eat you were 7-8. We have suffered. "What's the matter?" said the old woman.

The 114-year-old lives with her little son, 76 years old, and her 68-year-old daughter-in-law.

"I came to my husband at the age of 17. I found 3 maids here and the little brother-in-law, these are not married. The old woman said I will come with you. Come on, I said. Where do these children of mine eat and you both, husband and wife, I said that I also had my father-in-law then. With my father-in-law and mother-in-law, I went too far. I have been coming to this family here for 50 years. Mother Qamilja had a healthy life. I never took him to the doctor. Only once does he realize he has a headache. Qamilja was cured just for that. There is no disease. I give her an egg in the morning. He will drink coffee and eat bread. What will I say to him? What does he mean by that? I give him cheese and yogurt because I have small cattle. Mother Qamilja wipes, when I'm not here she watches the chickens. He washes his clothes by hand and does not put them in the washing machine. "I wash them," he says.

But what does the old woman do all day?

"When everyone gets up, I get up too, but I don't sleep in the heat. I get up in the morning, do the work that belongs to me. I look at those chickens, those birds. But this is how I left bread and food for two years. I want to, but I don't have the power. Even the bride is at home," she said.

Although she is 114 years old, Qamile Marra wishes for an even longer life. She says she can't get enough of life like a river can get enough of water.

"Is the river filled with water to fill the slave with life? He says I see a drop, I see a drop. I can't get enough of life," she said.
