Veliaj's trial begins, mayor does not attend session: SPAK has not implemented the Court's decision to hand over the missing files

The first trial session on the merits has begun at the GJKKO for Mayor Erion Veliaj and other defendants in the case who have requested a normal trial.

 In a statement to the Court, Mayor Veliaj stated that he will not be present at the hearing.

"I will not be present because SPAK has not implemented the Court's decision to hand over the missing files and digital evidence and to enable me to participate as a free man in the courtroom. I request to be represented by lawyer Plarent Ndreca," Veliaj declared.

While prosecutor Ols Dado stated: "I see no reason why the trial can be postponed, the court has made the acts available."
