A portion of the file and some of the wiretaps that led to the arrest of traffic police officers are published.
Judicial police officer Edison Tabaku , detained at the initiative of SPAK for passive corruption committed in collaboration, with a value of 2 thousand euros, was sentenced to "prison arrest ".
Meanwhile, the head of the traffic police station, Roven Zeka, and the head of the OPGJ, Sokol Novaku , also detained, will appear before the Special Court on Tuesday.
Euronews learns that SPAK was conducting wiretapping as part of a criminal proceeding in 2023, when conversations regarding a bribe of 2,000 euros to ease the position of citizen Anisa Vrioni, who had caused an accident, were recorded in the communications transcription network.
In the documents submitted to the Special Court, SPAK underlines that Anisa's husband, Ergest Vrioni, communicated with police officer Edison Tabaku , with whom he had previous acquaintances.
He paid the sum of 2 thousand euros in order to avoid arresting his wife.
According to the materials submitted to the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Service, SPAK says that from the data obtained from telephone communications it results that Vrioni has requested money from various people to give to the judicial police officer.
The amount was given near the traffic police officer's apartment, late at night, adding that video footage was also taken, SPAK told the court.
The Special Prosecution Office also highlights that from the examination of the phone of the person under investigation, Edison Tabaku, it results that he has communications with his superiors, Sokol Novaku and Roven Zeka.
From the communications he has with the person under investigation, Sokol Novaku, it appears that he has informed him that the person " only has one and if the work waits until the next day, that he has come from Ksamil and that he has a friend ."
He says "ok" and "don't get in trouble with the boss," according to SPAK's suspicions.
In the request submitted to the court, SPAK notes that the three officers suspected of corruption were transferred to the capital from the Elbasan police structures, where they previously served, euronews writes .
SPAK says that 2.5 million lek and 26 thousand euros were found in the apartment of OPGJ Edison Tabaku, while his bosses have denied knowledge of the subordinate's actions, stating to BKH agents that standard procedures were applied in the case and the materials for the cause of the accident were referred to the prosecutor's office, which is being investigated at large.
From the accident that occurred on April 16, 5 people were presented to the hospital with minor injuries, who after completing the necessary checks, left for their homes.
