A serious event has shocked public opinion, where 25-year-old Xhuana Nikollaj ended her life as a result of systematic violence.

Journalist Aida Topalli, in an interview for the show "Në Radio" on Radio Tirana, has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of this story that began as a love story and ended tragically.

According to journalist Topalli, the story between the two young people from Lezha was long, but their marriage proved short-lived and filled with violence.

"The two young people had a long love story, which they had crowned with marriage last summer. A marriage that lasted only 3 months after there was continuous psychological and physical violence against the 25-year-old."

Beyond the violence by the ex-husband, Eraldo Fizi, the investigations are also extending to other family members.

"There have been accusations and statements from relatives that the mother-in-law was the "apple of contention" between the young couple. But the investigative group will investigate what is behind this."

??After the divorce, Xhuana was trying to build a new life in Tirana, where she worked and lived with her friend. However, the last meeting with her ex-husband, who had returned from Italy on March 9, proved fatal.

"After constant arguments via text messages, he met with his ex-wife and they stayed until around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. When he returned to the apartment, her friend stated that Xhuana had obvious signs of violence, including a broken jaw."

This aggravated physical and psychological condition pushed the young woman towards the consumption of phostoxin. Even in the last moments of her life, Xhuana was able to testify to the horror she experienced.

"Xhuana Nikollaj was able to resist for at least 2 hours from the moment she was taken from her apartment to the "Mother Teresa" Hospital Center. She stated that the person who caused her signs of violence and who led her to commit such an act was her ex-husband, Eraldo Fizi."

??A key detail in the investigation is the letter the 25-year-old left behind, where the use of the plural suggests that the pressure did not come from just one person.

"She left a letter that said: 'I cannot allow myself to be harmed any more, so I apologize.'" Xhuana speaks in the plural in that letter, and the perpetrators may have also been her ex-husband's family members."

One of the first questions that arose after the incident was a possible pregnancy that could have contributed to the worsening of the situation. However, journalist Topalli explained that the official results have dismissed this possibility.

"The forensic examination results show that the 25-year-old woman was not pregnant."

Although the violence was present and known by the family circle, law enforcement institutions were unaware of this drama. As Topalli confirms on the show "Në Radio", " in the Lezha Local Police Directorate and in the Tirana Local Police Directorate there was no previous denunciation by the family members". This comes as a result of the difficult dynamics of the couple, who have gone through "different periods, moments of calm and moments of aggravation of the situation".

The funeral procession to the deceased's last residence in Shëngjin was not just a family farewell ceremony, but turned into a strong call for societal reflection. Many citizens joined in the tribute, lighting candles in memory of Xhuana Nikollaj, a gesture that, as journalist Aida Topalli expressed, served as "an alarm bell for the situation in which Albanian women often find themselves."

Beyond the tragedy, Xhuana Nikollaj represented a girl full of dreams and ambition, who despite the challenges of marriage, was trying to build an independent life.

"She was a law student and worked in Tirana. She came from a good, cultured family, who had supported her after the divorce when she tried to move on with her life. She was a beautiful, educated girl who worked and moved on with her life."

Meanwhile, the police have declared Eraldo Fizi wanted, while the death of Xhuana Nikollaj remains an open wound and a call for justice.
