The Vlora Journalists Association has reacted after the press conference held by Prime Minister Edi Rama, condemning the behaviors and statements that, according to it, violate the standards of institutional communication with the media and respect for the work of journalists. The Vlora Journalists Association encourages a measured, respectful and inclusive institutional communication with the media, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a professional and constructive dialogue in the interest of informing the public.

Reaction of the Vlora Journalists Association:

The Vlora Journalists Association (SHGV) has closely followed the press conference held by the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, during which several situations were highlighted that have raised concerns in the journalist community regarding the standards of institutional communication with the media.

In this context, SHGV expresses its reservations about the decision to exclude journalist Ambrozia Meta from press conferences, emphasizing that equal access for journalists to public activities is an important element for guaranteeing transparency and informing the public.

Likewise, the Association assesses that the situation created during the interaction with journalist Isa Myzyraj does not contribute to a calm and constructive climate of communication between institutions and the media, which is necessary in a democratic society.

SHGV also highlights that the use of derogatory language or labeling of the media can negatively impact the climate of public dialogue and the relationship between institutions and journalists.

Any allegations of legal violations by the media must be handled by the relevant institutions, in accordance with the law and established procedures.

The Vlora Journalists Association reiterates that freedom of the media and expression are fundamental principles of a democratic society, guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and by international human rights instruments.

In this spirit, SHGV encourages a measured, respectful and inclusive institutional communication with the media, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a professional and constructive dialogue in the interest of informing the public.
