A serious incident was recorded in the city of Lezha, where a police officer killed himself.

The incident happened this Saturday afternoon.

The victim identified with the initials Gj. L. ended his life with the service weapon.

It is suspected that he committed suicide under severe psychological conditions after learning that he was suffering from a serious illness.

"Around 5:50 p.m., in the village of Spiten, Lezhë, it is suspected that in severe psychological conditions after learning that he was suffering from a serious illness, he committed suicide with a pistol (service weapon) in the yard of his apartment. Police officer, citizen Gj. L., 64 years old, staff of DVP Lezhë", the police announced.

The investigative team is at the scene and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office is conducting the first investigative actions.
