The capital's police have arrested a 20-year-old man who was defrauding various citizens by demanding between 500 and 1,000 euros to not publish their personal photos on social networks.

 Erjon Mejdani opened fake addresses with girls' names and then wrote to boys, asking for their photos and after taking their intimate photos, he blackmailed them with the photos saying he would publish them.

According to the police, through fraud and blackmail, he demanded between 500 and 1,000 euros in exchange for not making personal photos public.

"The Cybercrime Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force of the DVP Tirana, in continuation of the work to combat illegalities in the cyber field, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Online Threat". As a result of the operation, citizen EM, 20 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested. The investigative actions resulted in this citizen, for a period of about 2 weeks, opening fake profiles on a social network and, while communicating with various citizens, obtaining personal photos from them. Then, through fraud and blackmail, he demanded a monetary amount of 500 to 1000 euros, in exchange for not making the personal photos public", the Police announced.

According to the police, on 05.12.2025 and 06.12.2025, Mejdani repeatedly received the amount of 750 euros from a 36-year-old man.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
