The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced today that Albanian citizen Jozef Ndoci, who was held prisoner in Venezuela for more than a year (October 2024–January 2026), has been released and is now in a safe condition.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ndoci was held in the high-security El Rodeo prison, in the state of Miranda, and his release was carried out after a process developed in recent days, within the framework of the release of a number of foreign prisoners in Venezuela.
After being temporarily transferred to the DGCIM premises, he was released and is currently under the care of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Caracas.
"The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Brazil, has been following the issue continuously and on several levels, in cooperation with international partners and friendly diplomatic missions, focusing on the protection of the rights and interests of Albanian citizens.
"The Albanian authorities have been in constant contact with JN's family and will continue to provide the necessary support until his safe return to Albania. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expresses its gratitude for the contribution of the International Committee of the Red Cross and for the cooperation of the partner diplomatic missions in Caracas ," the press release states.
