Cocaine worth 30 million euros 'disappeared', Albanian mafia tortures

The Spanish National Police have released in Caldes de Montbui, Barcelona, a person who had been held hostage for ten days, following a conflict related to the suspected loss of a shipment of more than 500 kilograms of cocaine, worth around 30 million euros.

The hostage, who had visible signs of violence after being repeatedly beaten, was rescued when his captor was transporting him in a vehicle to a mountainous and isolated area.

Local media reported that the victim, whose identity has not been released, was rescued when his suspected kidnapper was transporting him in a vehicle to a remote mountainous area. According to police, to avoid arrest, the kidnapper attempted to ram the agents with his vehicle and tried to pull out a pistol he had hidden in a small bag he was carrying around his waist.

The investigation began after a shipment of more than 500 kilograms of cocaine, which was to be transported from Portugal through Spanish territory, went missing.

The head of the organization, of Albanian origin, entrusted the transport of the goods to an intermediary driver, who, in turn, turned to a third person to carry out the transport. The last two people were Romanian citizens.

Along the way, the person claimed to have suffered a “vuelco” — a term used in the world of drug trafficking for the theft of drugs by another group of traffickers, and, after reporting the alleged theft of the goods, fearing retaliation, this driver fled and went into hiding.

In late July, the head of the organization forcibly kidnapped the driver and held him against his will for ten days.
