Requesting freedom again, the GJKKO reviews Veliaj's appeal today for the change of the 'prison arrest' measure!

This Wednesday, April 16, the special preliminary investigation judge, Erjon Bani, is expected to review the request for release from prison of the Mayor of Tirana, Erjon Veliaj, who has been in a detention cell in Durrës for more than 2 months, suspected of 2 charges, for passive corruption and money laundering.

Veliaj is seeking to be released from his cell and has addressed the Special Court with a request to revoke or replace the security measure of arrest with prison, a measure which was also confirmed by the Special Appeal on February 12, and which his lawyers are expected to appeal to the High Court.

The mayor has also requested 2 months of information from the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding the investigations being conducted against him.
