Britain is trying to deport an Albanian drug trafficker for the third time after he was sentenced to prison.

Ronaldo Zani has repeatedly returned secretly to the United Kingdom, despite being deported twice for being part of an Albanian criminal gang.

The 26-year-old was first deported in 2019 after being caught selling cocaine, but returned months later and told his customers: "I'm back to work," according to The Telegraph.

He was later caught in possession of £4,250, 24 grams of cocaine, three phones, as well as scales, distribution lists and a fake Greek identity card.

Zani admitted he was selling drugs to pay off a £15,000 debt to the gang that helped him return to the UK.

He was deported for the second time in May 2021 after being sentenced to three years in prison. But on February 13 this year, a police officer recognised him driving a Mercedes in Bournemouth.

He was stopped and a search revealed £1,935 in cash and 24.75g of cocaine, which would have a street value of up to £2,500.

Zani told authorities he entered the UK "a few months ago" hiding in the back of a truck. He said he was initially employed as a manual labourer but was not earning enough to repay his smugglers and so began working as a drug courier.

However, the judge said he "had no real sympathy" for Zani as he knew what he was getting into by returning to the UK illegally.

Jailing Zani for four years at Bournemouth Crown Court, Judge Richard Fuller KC said he expected him to be deported again.

"You entered the country illegally knowing that you were either indebted to those who were putting you on a truck or you would be indebted to an organised crime group. The country is full of Albanian criminal groups and with your previous convictions you would have been fully aware of what you were doing. There can be no real sympathy for you taking the lead to work for drug traffickers," he said.
