When about 4 years have passed since the murder of 23-year-old Florian Selimi in the village of Sulaj in Fier, justice has not yet been decided for this event. Dukate Selimi, the mother of Florian Selimi, wanders through the judicial bodies to seek justice for her son.
"My efforts have been continuous, I have written to every type of institution. Now after 4 years, session after session, over 24 sessions have been held, there is no decision. One is in prison for another reason, while the other, I also have a photo that wanders around the sessions without the presence of the police, that is, he is free. I had threats from them", says Dukate Selimi.
After the crime, on August 13, 2019, the police announced in an official statement that they had uncovered and documented the incident and that the suspected perpetrators of the crime had been arrested, but today, after 4 years, when asked in the courtroom, the crime boss says that he does not remember.
"Out of the five witnesses who had to testify, only one of them said as he wrote in the papers, he told the truth, while the others make claims that they had Covid, they say we are sick and we don't remember anything. Even the chief of serious crimes, Adriatik Mehmeti, says he doesn't remember anything. I told him that you also gave a press release to the media that the incident was clarified and documented, but he said I don't remember. It seems clear that they cooperated in destroying the evidence", says Dukate Selimi.
Florian Selim's mother claims that the evidence was manipulated and that there was intervention to protect the perpetrators. She has demanded justice in every link of the justice system.
"We were told that night that evidence was found and the case was solved, we were told by the head of serious crimes. Intervention of the institutions all the way up to the state, as I also have photos that a deputy is by their side, that is, they have the support of the law enforcement institutions, but also all the way up", says Florian Selim's mother.
She appeals to the Albanian state for help and to the justice bodies to judge the case without interference and for the perpetrators to receive the punishment they deserve.
"I ask the law-enforcement bodies to take this matter seriously, not to let us go to self-judgment because I do not forgive my son's blood. I lost my only son, I lost him unjustly, he was killed on the street, I demand justice", Florian Selim's mother appeals.
