The trial of Artan Tafani is taking place this afternoon in connection with the assassination attempt on Kujtim Meta, an event that occurred in April 2022. In that event, Meta was injured and after being taken to the hospital, he managed to escape the injuries he sustained.

According to the testimony that Tafani previously gave to investigators, the incident was ordered by Laert Haxhiu and the cause was an argument that the target had with Haxhiu's father.

" I know Kujtim Meta, I live in the neighborhood. The day Kujtim was assassinated, I was drinking coffee with my brother. Someone wearing a mask came in, I hid under the table. We took him in my car and took him to the hospital.

The bar is located at the train station in Lushnja. I drank my morning and afternoon coffee there. The incident happened in the afternoon. I was at the table alone with my brother, we were drinking coffee. Kujtimi was two tables away from me.

I was at the entrance to the bar on the right side, he was at the table opposite the door. I only heard "poof, poof", I lay down under the table. The perpetrator was masked, I don't remember exactly how close he got to the target.

"My brother was traumatized after the incident. I left for school, and when I returned, we picked him up and took him to the hospital. We also took the owner of the bar to the hospital. Kujtim worked as a transport driver ," the witness said.
