The Special Court is reviewing today a request by former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, for release from detention.

Beqaj's request to replace the "prison arrest" measure with a milder measure is based on the unifying decision of the Supreme Court of May 4, on determining the criteria for assigning the "prison arrest" measure.

The former Minister of Health has been in custody since July 2024 on account of the "SASPAC" file, in which he is accused of a number of criminal offenses, including "corruption", "money laundering" and "forgery of documents".
