The Special Court postpones the trial against the mayor of Roskovec, Majlinda Bufi , to May 7, a session which, if she or her lawyers are absent, the trial will continue in absentia.
The court's "ultimatum " was given due to the repeated absence of the defendant's lawyers and himself from court.
After imposing a fine of 10,000 lek on the two lawyers, Judge Irena Gjoka stated that the defendant Bufi will be notified that if the defendant or the lawyers do not appear at the next session, the trial will continue in absentia.
The trial against the local official accused of " using public functions for electoral activities " is in the defense conclusions phase.
Previously, SPAK requested a guilty plea, a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison, a sentence that was reduced to 1 year due to the summary trial. In conclusion, SPAK requested a suspension of the prison sentence and placing Bufi on probation for 2 years.
On November 14, 2025, the mayor of Roskovec, Majlinda Bufi , was indicted by SPAK. She is accused of the criminal offense of " Using public office for political activity ", provided for in Article 328/a/3.
Over the past few years, three reports have been filed against Bufi with SPAK, and at least twice she has appeared to give statements.
According to the allegations, the mayor has deliberately and personally committed serious violations against public administration employees during the local election campaign, with the aim of preventing them from freely exercising their right to vote, using threats, pressure and blackmail.
Also, DP Roskovec has filed another criminal complaint with SPAK against her, accusing her of misuse of tenders.
