Greta Thunberg's flotilla

Israeli forces have intercepted activist Greta Thunberg's flotilla heading to Gaza and boarded the ship, activists have claimed.

Organizers said two of the ships in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) had been stopped less than a hundred miles from the coast after ignoring final orders to change course, and arrests had been made.

The fleet encountered a circle of warships as it approached Gaza, where the organizers reported signal jamming and received numerous warnings to deliver their aid and turn back.

The fleet, which set off from Barcelona in August, hoped to bring food and medicine to the enclave, which is under a naval blockade.

The GSF previously said it expected Israel to intercept the flotilla after it violated a "high-risk" zone, about 150 nautical miles off the Gaza coastline.

The Israeli navy said it warned the Gaza-bound flotilla to change course, telling them they could unload the cargo at the port of Ashdod in Israel.

A live broadcast of the flotilla's journey to Gaza shows activists sitting in a circle wearing life jackets on the ship Alma, which also carries Thunberg, apparently waiting to be picked up.
