Mario Canaj has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in an attempted break-in at a cannabis factory in Luton, an incident that sparked violent clashes between rival gangs.
Police were called in the early hours of March 3, 2021, following reports of gunshots and people involved in a heated argument in the Hallwicks Road area.
The fight broke out after several men attempted to break into a nearby residence that was being used as a cannabis factory.
Mario Canaj, 39, of St James Court, Coventry, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Monday (December 1). He was found guilty of conspiracy to manufacture cannabis, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and taking part in serious violence.
Three other people were convicted earlier in 2023 in connection with the same incident, including Gezim Brahimaj, 38, of Somersby Close, Luton.
Detective Sergeant Jo Goodson, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Crime Unit, said: "This case demonstrates the extraordinary determination of our officers. It has been five years of hard work to secure these convictions, involving detailed investigations and extensive collaboration between different teams."
She added that the violence that night was "shocking" and that police were determined to bring all those responsible to justice.
"These sentences send a clear message: organised crime and the use of firearms will not be tolerated in Bedfordshire."
