Suspected of sexually abusing a 27-year-old woman with mental health problems,

A serious incident has been reported in Lushnja, where a 42-year-old man has been declared wanted by the Police, after he is suspected of having forcibly had sexual intercourse with a 27-year-old woman with mental health problems.

According to the Police, the young woman appeared at the Lushnja Police Station together with two of her family members and, in the presence of a psychologist, reported that on July 22, 2026, she was sexually assaulted by Saimir Meçani, 42 years old, a resident of Lushnja.

Immediately after the complaint, the blue uniforms carried out the first investigative and procedural actions, declaring the 42-year-old man wanted, suspected of the criminal offense of "Sexual or homosexual relations with persons incapable of defending themselves."

 Meanwhile, while the 27-year-old was giving her statements at the police station, the police arrested her brother, 32, in flagrante delicto. He is suspected of setting fire to the vehicle of the suspected perpetrator's mother as an act of revenge.

Authorities continue their search for the 42-year-old man, while investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
