Protest enters 54th day, citizens again in front of Parliament during last
Parliament of Albania

The civic protest against the government enters its 54th day today, as citizens gathered at 08:30 in front of the Albanian Parliament building, on the same day as the last plenary session of this parliamentary session.

The main and non-negotiable demand of the protesters remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Activists state that their goal is to convey to MPs the message that citizens do not feel represented by the current Parliament, demanding a response to their concerns.

With banners and slogans such as "You do not represent us!", "Crime Parliament" and "Rama, resign", the protesters have warned that they will continue their mobilization in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Assembly convenes at 10:00 for a busy session, where seven constitutional institutions will report: the High Judicial Council (KLGJ), the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP), the High State Audit Office (KLSH), the General Prosecutor's Office, SPAK, the People's Advocate and the High Inspector of Justice (ILD). The reports were postponed from the previous session due to tensions caused by Democratic Party deputies.

The agenda also includes interpellations and question-and-answer sessions with the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi. MP Blendi Himçi has requested an interpellation on the delays in the construction of the Elbasan bypass, while MPs Bujar Leskaj and Erald Kapri will hold question-and-answer sessions on the Albania-Greece memorandum on liquefied natural gas and on the issue of properties in the village of Zgjup Kodër in Gramsh.

The session will also review a series of normative acts and draft laws, including amendments to the Law "On Tourism", which according to the majority aim to prohibit fences that block access to beaches and construction during the tourist season.

Meanwhile, the report on Territorial Reform, whose presentation was requested in the previous session by the Socialist Party, has not been included in the agenda. However, the Conference of Speakers, which meets an hour before the start of the session, is expected to decide whether there will be changes to the parliamentary agenda or postponement of the session.
