Durrim Bani arrives in Albania after being detained in Dubai

Durim Bami arrived in Albania this evening. He was escorted from Rinas to the Penitentiary by the Operational Forces of the General Directorate of Prisons.

Durim Bami has been arrested since May 14, 2024 in Dubai, where he initially remained in prison there and then moved to "house arrest".

Durim Bami is one of the Albanians who took refuge in Dubai, who spent more time in prison there than any other Albanian, over 1 year, after which he was placed under house arrest, a security measure that he was under even when his extradition to Albania was approved.

Since May 14, 2024, there has been a fierce battle between the Albanian authorities to carry out his extradition, which was moving towards finalization after a voluminous work by the international relations department of the state police. Recently, the authorities in Dubai had also initiated proceedings for asset verification for Durim Bami. After a long ordeal of trials and procedures, Durim Bami himself agreed to be extradited to Albania.

Durim Bami was declared an international wanted person, after the Special Court assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Providing conditions to commit murder", "Structured criminal group" and "Cultivation of narcotic plants".
