"They went out to drink coffee and came back dead," and Sokol

After the serious incident that occurred on August 30, where Sokol Preka , 40 years old, and David Deda , 46 years old, lost their lives after being electrocuted, the residents of Vau i Dejës have gone out in protest.

Protesters claim that the ambulance arrived about an hour and 30 minutes after the announcement, a delay that, according to them, contributed to the loss of life of the two victims.

Residents demand that the Vau i Dejës health center be turned into a functional emergency room, with 24-hour doctors, a permanent ambulance, and full services for residents. Sokol Preka's sister was also at the protest.

Tearfully, she demanded justice for her brother and raised accusations about the lack of timely response from health structures.

" This protest is in memory of the loss of two young men from Vau Dejës, from the great disaster that happened, from the lack of the state, the lack of ambulances, nurses, doctors, and everyone. This health center has been turned, that is, they took everything away, it has been turned into a center where we don't even have an emergency room, we don't even have an ambulance. This city hasn't had an ambulance for 3 months. We are 50 thousand inhabitants, 50 thousand inhabitants, and we don't have an ambulance.

We don't have an emergency room, we don't have a doctor's service, we don't have any doctors. Doctors only work in the mornings and there are no doctors at all. This is the lack of the state, the lack of institutions, of the Shkodra directorate and all of ours. In the absence of an ambulance, it took an hour and a half for an ambulance to come from Shkodra, to notify Shkodra that the ambulance had arrived and to go to the scene.

Even our young children have died from the lack of an ambulance. One says Shkodra, the other Shkodra, this is the great lack of the state. We demand that the health center of Vau Dejës become an emergency. That there be 24-hour service with doctors. That there be other additional services, ambulance, emergency, it is known what services it has, that it has its own doctors. We demand from the state, from the institutions, from everyone, we demand that this become an emergency health center.

We, the residents of Vau Dejës, come here, there are only nurses. There is no doctor. Only nurses provide service here. There is no doctor, the doctor is only in the morning. There is no doctor, because there used to be a night watch doctor, it's been a month and a half or two since they removed him. They made the watch doctors, they removed them, this whole thing here has been abolished. We only have nurses. What can a nurse help, what can she do. This is our misfortune ," said one of the residents.
