SPAK has officially forwarded to the State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi , confirmation of the final sentence for the Mayor of Kuçova, Kreshnik Hajdari .
Through an official document recorded in May 2026, SPAK confirms that Hajdari has pleaded guilty to falsifying forms.
In the letter to the CEC, Chief Prosecutor Klodjan Braho details the progress of the criminal process against Hajdari, which began after verifications of his clean record within the framework of the decriminalization law.
According to the document : With decision No. 06, dated 25.01.2024, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has decided: The guilty plea of ??the defendant Kreshnik Hajdari for committing the criminal offense of 'Forgery of seals, stamps or forms', provided for by Article 190/2 of the Criminal Code and his sentence to 9 months imprisonment.
Following the summary trial, Hajdar's sentence was reduced to 6 months in prison, which was later suspended to be served on probation. The SPAK document explains that this decision became final on July 5, 2024, making Hajdar's mandate legally vulnerable, and the institutional silence strange, and the CEC's activation only now did the Supreme Court speak out and Maliqi held a media conference under Celibashi's office.
This development comes after a long legal and public battle launched by his political rival in the local elections, Lefter Maliqi.
The latter has filed several complaints with SPAK and the CEC, claiming that Kreshnik Hajdari has concealed a previous conviction in Greece ( for illegal border crossing ), a fact which was not reflected in the self-declaration form.
Maliqi has repeatedly accused Hajdari of holding office illegally, arguing that: Hajdari has committed the criminal offense of fraud with state documents. Justice institutions and the CEC have delayed the execution of the decriminalization law. The elections in Kuçova must be repeated due to the invalidity of the winner's candidacy.
With the arrival of this official notification from SPAK, the ball is in the CEC's court. Commissioner Celibashi is expected to convene a session to determine the premature termination of Kreshnik Hajdari's mandate, unless there are other legal avenues that allow otherwise./ vna
