Two tourists tragically lost their lives in the Valbona area, in Tropoja, after falling down the cliff. Official police sources say that the victims are a Belgian and a French tourist.
They had gone hiking in the mountainous terrain that connects the valley of Valbona with the tourist village of Theth, but they fell down a cliff.
Upon receiving the notification, the authorities immediately started the search and the bodies of the tourists were found in the place called "Valbona Neck".
The dead bodies of the two girls have not yet been removed from the place where they fell and where they were found by the police after several hours of searching.
Due to the steep terrain and the bad weather with fog and snow, it has become impossible for the helicopter from the alpine team of the FNSH of Shkodra to land.
According to preliminary information, it turns out that the two girls started without a guide and after leaving Thethi, they went to the mountainous part, where they faced the snow that is still present. Without proper information about the terrain and the paths, the girls decided to go through the snow and there they allegedly fell down the slope after slipping.
Tragic for them was the later hit by an avalanche. The police and the residents of the area have gone to the place of the event, while it is clarified that the event took place in the same place where a German tourist lost his life on May 10 of last year. Thus, the identity of one of the victims was revealed in the media. She is 25-year-old Belgian Baets Myrthe.
