The tragedy in Greece

New details have emerged from the serious event that took place on the island of Crete in Greece, where a child of Albanian origin drowned in the sea.

This event has caused sadness in the community of the Arvi area, where little Nikolas lived with his family.

He drowned while swimming with a friend.

The 7-year-old left against his mother's wishes. He had earlier asked him to go swimming at the beach, which was a few tens of meters away from the house, but his mother did not allow him.

He sneaked out of the house while his mother was taking care of the small child she had born a few months earlier. Unfortunately, the child was swept away by the waves and as a result lost consciousness.

He was found on the shore with his body upside down and his head in the water by passers-by, who immediately pulled him out of the sea and called an ambulance. Despite the first aid given by passers-by, the child lost his life.

Little Nicholas lived with his parents in Arvi. According to local media, his parents are mainly greenhouse workers, excellent people as described by their fellow villagers.

Everyone describes the 7-year-old as a wonderful child full of energy, joy and kindness.

His mother gave birth to the family's second child a few months ago, and when the accident happened, she was at home with the baby, while the father was at work.

"Whatever we say is little. We are all shocked", the president of the Cultural Association of Arvi, Yannis Karpathakis, who was among the first to rush to the place where the body of the little child was found, told cretalive.gr.

"In such a tragedy, we must remain silent. In the face of mourning, let's not judge", Karpathakis added, emphasizing that Nikolas' parents are people who work all day to provide the best for their children.

The mayor of Viannos, Pavlos Baritakis, told cretapost.gr that "the child loved the sea very much and escaped the attention of his parents, as a result of which he lost his life". In a question about the beach, the mayor of Vianno emphasized that this particular beach is not organized, so there is no lifeguard. Also, it's rocky.

According to the latest information, the parents were at the police station and gave a statement about how the incident happened.
