Snowfall has been recorded since yesterday afternoon in the mountainous areas of the Elbasan region, following a significant drop in temperatures.
According to the Civil Emergencies Office near the Elbasan Prefecture, the situation appears to be under control, however the rainfall has caused difficulties in traffic and power outages in some areas.
The thickness of the snow on the Librazhd - Fushë-Studen - Sebisht road axis has reached up to 8 cm and movement is only possible with chains.
Authorities have called for caution when driving on this mountainous segment, while maintenance units are on the ground to ensure the road is passable.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the district, rural and national roads are open and passable, without significant problems.
Problems have also been reported with the electricity supply. Part of the city of Cerrik has been left without power due to damage to the Banja feeder.
Also, outages have been recorded in the Lunik Administrative Unit in Librazhd and in the village of Godolesh in Labinot-Fushë.
OSHEE teams are on the ground and are working to repair the defects and restore power to the affected areas.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation in real time, while citizens are appealed for increased caution, especially when moving in remote mountainous areas.
