Baets Myrthe, 25 years old from Belgium and Joanna Blocaille of French origin are the foreign tourists who tragically lost their lives while exploring the area in Qafe-Valbona.

Yesterday evening, they were moving on the Valbonë-Theth path without any companion who knows the area and as a result of the rough terrain and unfavorable atmospheric conditions, with fog and snow, they slipped and ended up on the slope.

In order to enable the removal of dead bodies, local and border police services, as well as alpine teams, went to the scene in cooperation with Civil Emergencies and the Ministry of Defense.

The investigative group of the Kukës Local Police Directorate is at the scene and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is working to clarify the circumstances of this event and to determine the cause of the loss of life of the two tourists.

Even before, there have been tragic cases during the crossing of the Theth-Valbona trail, as foreign tourists who explore the area do not know the terrain.

Meanwhile, a tragic event was also recorded the day before in the canyons of Osum, where the flow of the river swept away the Dutch tourist, Jules Schurmmans, whose body has not yet been found.
