Leon Molla, a 40-year-old from Mirditor who has been living in France since 2012, has been charged again by the Prosecutor's Office of Lezha. The charge of "Inciting hatred or strife" has been brought against him, since according to the prosecuting body, through video messages distributed on his account on the social network Facebook, he called for the removal of the plaque of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, placed in the square with the same name in the city of Laçi.
Investigations related to the case in question start in February 2022, after the attempt to remove Erdogan's plaque which was placed in the neighborhood built after the earthquake by the Turkish government.
According to the investigative file, Leon Molla is the person who, through the reactions on social networks, instigated these actions, demanding that explosives be placed on the plaque.
The case in question has gone to the Court of Lezha for a preliminary hearing, where the defendant will be tried in absentia, since he has been outside the Albanian territory since 2012 and it is known that he has obtained asylum in France.
Contacted about this matter, Leon Molla stands by his determination to protect the values of the Albanian territory, since according to him, symbols of a country that has conquered us, such as Turkey, cannot be placed.
He considers it absurd for Albanian justice to accept him as a defendant for such a case which protects the Albanian nation. Leon Molla, was previously sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Court of Lezha, for calls on the social network Facebook for the removal of the Turkish flag from the HEC dam in Qafë Molë of Mirdita. He was found guilty of the crime of "Inciting Hate".
