Kreshnik Farruku, known as the head of the "Farruku" clan, was arrested on the evening of January 11, 2025 by order of SPAK.
He was arrested in Manzë, Durrës, at the request of SPAK in cooperation with the Florence prosecutor's office with the aim of extradition to Italy.
He will remain isolated in Tirana Police premises, to appear before the Special Court on Monday.
The GJKKO has signed the security measure "arrest in prison" against him, while days ago he surrendered himself and was under the security measure "house arrest", issued by the Court of Durrës. In the session of January 7, 2025, the Court of Durrës had considered the request for temporary arrest against Kreshnik Farruku and Erneo Farruku, his brother, after the Court of Brescia, Italy, with decision No. 12042/2020 RGNR-5352/2021 RI GIP, dated 29.08.2024, had ordered against him the security measure "Arrest in prison", as suspects for the offenses "Criminal organizations" and "Trafficking in narcotics" provided for by Italian criminal legislation.
The 51-year-old, also known as Kreshnik Budlla, is charged with "Criminal organization" and "Drug trafficking."
The Farruk Clan
Kreshnik Farruku is known as the head of the clan and used 10 names to escape justice. Meanwhile, in December 2024, the Special Court confiscated 27 properties registered in the names of Kreshnik Farruku and brother Erneo Farruku, including agricultural land, apartments, shops and vehicles.
Among the confiscated assets are several properties in Tirana and Durrës, apartments in luxury buildings, "Mercedes Benz" and "Smart" brand vehicles, as well as the "Eco Energy System" and "Rrotull-Beton" businesses.
The two brothers are accused of leading the Farruku clan, a group that was busted in Spain in 2023 after a mega-operation against cocaine trafficking that seized 2 tons of cocaine. It was suspected that the cocaine had been ordered by the Farruku clan in Ecuador and was to be smuggled into Spain.
Kreshnik Farruku is the Albanian who used 10 names to escape justice.
In May 2010, Farruk was arrested along with 7 other gang members in Barcelona.
In 2014, Kreshnik Farruku, or Kreshnik Buddlla, escaped from prison and was arrested in 2019 while wanted in Spain and Italy for cocaine trafficking and burglaries of several apartments.
In 2015, Kreshnik Farruk was assassinated in Albania in the Don Bosko area.
According to Spanish media, Kreshnik Budlla was suspected of killing his boss in Spain in 2010, due to drug dealing, but it later emerged that the murder had been prepared by Devi Kasmi, who was killed in an assassination attempt in January 2018 in Tirana.
Farruk's name also recently appeared in SkyECC communications in the file of former socialist MP Jurgis Çyrbja.
From the transcribed conversations, the former MP gave him secret information to check the environment around his apartment, as he had information that he could be under surveillance by SHISH employees.
