The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has decided to release from prison former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj, and businessman Ilir Rrapaj.
Both were sentenced by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) to 6 years in prison each for the criminal offenses of "theft by abuse of office" and "forgery of documents".
However, due to the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to 4 years for each.
Their release comes as a result of the long time spent in detention, since their arrest in 2023, which has led to the sentence being considered almost fully served.
Rrjepaj and Rrapaj were found guilty of violations in the sterilization concession procedures, a contract worth around 100 million euros in the health sector, but were found not guilty of the "structured criminal group" charge.
