Defense Minister Ermal Nufi stated that there is no request from NATO to suspend the agreement between the Albanian government and the Israeli company Elbit for the production of military drones.

Nufi noted that the "Made in Albania" military drones will be of a high level, becoming an added value for the Armed Forces in Albania.

Question: Your predecessor said that the first drones will be produced by spring, referring to the agreement that the Albanian government has with the Elbit company. NATO has suspended several tenders with this company and it is under investigation. Have you communicated with NATO? When will we have the first drones “Made in Albania”?

Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi: We have an agreement for the production of drones with them. Regarding the problems they have had with one of the contracts, news has circulated that this contract has been suspended. While the other contracts continue.

NATO member countries, not far from our southern neighbor, have concluded other contracts with Elbit. I cannot prejudge any process. We have no letter or request from NATO to suspend it in Albania, and we have no reason to be in violation of the contract on our part, as long as it is implemented regularly by both parties.

I believe that those drones will be an added value for the Armed Forces, due to the uniqueness they present, as not only will they be produced in Albania, they are high-level military drones.
