Flames burn out of control near Tirana

The fire that has been burning in Priska, Tirana, for several days now descended on a forest area in the village of Dias this Wednesday afternoon.

The flames and smoke that have covered the area are visible even from Tirana.

The fire is spreading over a significant area, while homes and businesses are located below the hill, increasing the risk.


The flames have approached Lundra in Tirana and are approaching homes and the helicopter base in Farka, as the flames are out of control.


Difficult terrain is hindering the intervention of firefighting vehicles from the ground. Due to the relief, emergency vehicles are unable to approach the area where the fire continues to spread.


In Kruja, the situation is worrying near the Abaze and Boye neighborhoods. Dozens of firefighters and a helicopter are working to contain the flames.

The fires inside the Lura National Park have been active for two days, approaching several homes.

To avoid major consequences, work is being done from the ground and air, with 220 operational forces and two Air Tractor aircraft, which are focused on the most active hotspots.

The problematic situation continues in Drenie, Patos municipality, after the reactivation of the fire. Firefighters, forest service volunteers and police are currently working to extinguish the flames.

In the Morava Mountains, Devoll municipality, the outbreak has been isolated and poses no risk to residential areas, but is being monitored by operational structures.

The fire continues in Nëmërçka and on Mount Dhëmbel, where there is no danger to homes.

The Ministry of Defense informs that, as of Wednesday afternoon, 9 fires are active in the country's territory, in the districts of Tirana, Fier, Durrës, Gjirokastër, Dibër and Korçë.
