7 arrested within 48 hours, the heads of the Spanish Police arrive in Tirana
Conference between the Albanian and Spanish Police

The State Police has held today a joint conference with Spanish counterparts in the framework of the extradition agreement between the Republic of Albania and the Kingdom of Spain, which entered into force on March 16, 2022.

The General Director of the State Police, Gledis Nano, informed that so far 7 people have been arrested to be extradited to Spain. He further added that the cooperation between the authorities of the two countries has always been very good.

"The State Police has done a preliminary work to identify and verify all persons wanted by the Spanish authorities and with the entry into force of the agreement, in close coordination with the Spanish law enforcement authorities, especially with the structures of INTERPOL and FAST of both countries, the operation has started and so far 7 Albanian citizens have been arrested, for the criminal offenses: "Narcotics trafficking", "Criminal organization", "Forgery of documents" and "Violation of the law on drugs". These citizens continue to be in court proceedings, with the aim of extraditing them to Spain.

In the framework of this cooperation, during 2021, successful operations were carried out: "DOBRA", "NOMADA" and "SPIRIT". Also successful were the previous operations such as: operation "CONTINUED" and Mega Operation "ONE IF-BY LAND", the results of which we have made known in previous communications.

These operations and investigations have been focused against criminal groups producing and trafficking narcotics, smuggling migrants, money laundering, burglary, etc. As part of these operations, significant quantities of plants and narcotics, firearms, cash and vehicles were seized. Movable and immovable property were also seized in Albania, as well as commercial activities were blocked.

We also had a very good cooperation with the Spanish immigration authorities. This is also reflected in the continuous cooperation for the return of Albanian citizens, who are, with irregular residence, in the Spanish territory. The Spanish authorities and the Albanian State Police carry out joint repatriation flights, coordinated by FRONTEX. The Spanish authorities are also engaged in providing technical assistance to the State Police through the organization of trainings and seminars, as well as the coordination and implementation of various projects.

Bashkëpunimi me partnerët, nënshkrimi dhe zbatimi i detyrimeve të ndërsjella që parashikojnë marrëveshje të tilla, ndikojnë në parandalimin e krimit dhe përbëjnë një akt të domosdoshëm për të rritur terrenin e veprimit, duke bërë që Shqipëria të mos kthehet kurrsesi në oaz të lakmuar për shtetasit që janë në konflikt me ligjin dhe parimet e një shoqërie të lirë. Gjithashtu , këto marrëveshje ekstradimi bëjnë të mundur dhe janë një faktor ndihmues në vënien në vend të drejtësisë, pavarësisht vendit se ku janë të përqendruara fenomenet që duhen goditur e neutralizuar nëpërmjet operacioneve policore." tha Gledis Nano

Ndërkohë, përfaqësuesi i Policisë spanjolle deklaroi se ka gjetur një gatishmëri nga ana e homologëveshqiptarë, ku ata 7 persona janë arrestuar brenda 48 orësh. Sipas tij, një pjes prej të arrestuarve strehoeshin në Shqipëri me identitet të rremë.

“Disa ditë pas nënshkrimit të Marrëveshjes së përmendur me Shqipërinë, Seksioni i të Arratisurve të Policisë Kombëtare Spanjolle ka nisur një shkëmbim intensiv informacioni operacional me autoritetet shqiptare, me qëllim gjetjen e të arratisurve të pretenduar nga Spanja, me një vendndodhje të mundshme në Shqipëri.

Hetimet janë kryer me mbështetjen e çmuar të Zyrës së Atasheut të Brendshëm dhe janë kanalizuar përmes Rrjetit Evropian të Personave të Arratisur (ENFAST Network), anëtare e të cilit është Shqipëria dhe Presidencën e së cilës e mban Spanja, deri në fund të vitit 2023. Sapo filloi bashkëpunimi, në vetëm 48 orë, ekipi i Personave të Arratisur shqiptarë ka arrestuar gjithsej 7 persona në Shqipëri të kërkuar nga Spanja për krime të rënda si përkatësi në një organizatë kriminale, trafik ndërkombëtar droge në kuadër të organizatave kriminale ose sulme në shtëpi. Një pjesë e këtyre personave strehoheshin me identitete të rreme, në Shqipëri.
