Andrea Kercanaj , 47 years old, was extradited on Friday evening from Italy to Tirana, after being accused of a series of crimes.
"There were a number of convictions and other pending trials, but due to mysteries not revealed by Italian justice, after less than three years in prison, he was released. Now a ticket has arrived for him, hopefully only one-way, to Albania".
This is what the Italian Il Messaggero writes about Andrea Kercanaj. The neighboring media considers him a dangerous member of the Albanian underworld in Frosinone.
There he is also known as Sandro and is not unheard of by the police and the courts.
In his criminal "CV", the Albanian has numerous convictions, including those that have taken final form.
It is about convictions such as theft, possession of weapons without a permit, extortion, exploitation of prostitution and the fact that he led a criminal organization aimed at the illegal trade of narcotics.
According to what Italy writes, it is about a branch of distribution of narcotics in the Frosinone prison, where drugs were distributed thanks to a corrupt warden.
In prison, Kercanaj risked a lot. In 2021, he was involved in several shootings. It was Alessio Peluso, known as O Niro, the boss of the northern neighborhood of Miano in Naples who fired a gun that he picked up by drone.
He wanted to take revenge because a few days ago the Albanian together with 4 other people had beaten him.
A few years ago, it was even worse for Kercanaj. A compatriot shot him in the face with a gun. For months, the 47-year-old fought between life and death.
Behind the attempted murder lies the fight for control of the prostitution network in the streets of Frosinone. He was then arrested twice, because he controlled the distribution of drugs in public housing on Bellini Street. He also ended up in trouble for an attempt to extort Ernesto Barile.
"Other local crime leaders had submitted to him. The world of Albanian crime has imposed its dominance in Frosinone in recent years", writes Il Messggero.
And the latest case he discovers is the crime in a bar in the center of the city where Kasem Kasmi was killed.
"Kercanaj is undoubtedly one of the undisputed leaders of Albanian organized crime," writes Il Messagero, referring to sources from the police.
Despite the convictions and trials, the 47-year-old was released after about 3 years in prison. After the shootings in "Aldo Maro", where 27-year-old Kasmi was killed, the police intensified their anti-crime controls, so Kercanaj's presence did not go unnoticed.
In this way, the authorities there approved the decision to deport him. Despite the appeal, the Italian court decided to repatriate him due to his numerous criminal records.
