England coach Gareth Southgate has resigned after England's second successive defeat in the European Championship final.
After 102 games and almost eight years in charge, he has made the decision to leave.
The news was made known by himself through a reaction, where it is stated that " it is time for change and for a new chapter ".
"As a proud Englishman, it has been the honor of my life to play for England and to manage England. This has been my everything and I have given it my all. But it's time for a change and a new chapter ," Southgate said.
England made it to two European finals without winning either after being beaten by Italy in 2020 and by Spain 2-1 in Berlin on Sunday in the Euro 2024 final.
Southgate led England to the finals of Euro 2024 and Euro 2021, the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
