Xherdan Shaqiri has said it is time to say goodbye to the Swiss national team.

"Seven competitions, many goals, 14 years with the A-team of the Swiss national team and memorable moments. Time to say goodbye to the national team," Shaqiri wrote on social media.

The footballer has thanked everyone for the support, stressing that the good memories of this experience will remain.

Shaqiri has spent all ages with Switzerland, while his debut for the first team of the 'Helvetics', he made on 3 March 2010. In 125 appearances for Switzerland, Shaqiri has scored 32 goals, while making 34 assists.

Shaqiri also holds the record as the first player to score in the last six major tournaments.
