The Kosovo national team suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Switzerland in the first qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup, held in the city of Basel.
The Helvetic team has scored 4 goals in the first half, while the Dardanelles' defense tonight has been almost non-existent, just as the attack has "troubled" Sommer's goal a little.
From the start of the match, Switzerland dominated the game in both possession and creating dangerous chances. The lead was established in the 22nd minute when defender Manuel Akanji headed home a corner kick, giving the home team the lead.
Just three minutes later, in the 25th, Breel Embolo doubled the score after an assist from Dan Ndoye, putting Kosovo in a difficult position.
The Swiss dominance continued, and in the 39th minute, Silvan Widmer added the third goal for Switzerland, taking advantage of another insecurity in the Kosovo defense.
The shame for the 'Dardans' was sealed in the final seconds of the first half, when Breel Embolo scored his second personal goal and fourth for the Swiss team, bringing the score to 4-0 before the break.
In the second half, Switzerland slowed down and managed the score, while Kosovo, despite making several substitutions, failed to make any significant changes to the game or the score.
Milan's injured midfielder, Ardon Jashari, was also at the stadium.
After this heavy defeat, Kosovo will try to put this match behind them and return more focused in the next challenge, where on September 8 at 'Fadil Vokrri' they will face Sweden, in another difficult qualifying match.
