Ex-UEFA president proposes playing football with 10 players for more spectacle
Michel Platini

Former UEFA president Michel Platini has made a "bombshell" proposal regarding football matches.

He has asked to change the game module, not to play with the 11 footballers on the pitch but with 10.

Speaking to RMC Platini said playing 10 players would create more space on the cow field and make the challenge even more interesting.

His game with 11 footballers was defined in 1900, but at the time footballers did not run as much.

"Maybe we have to take one player off, play with 10 on the pitch for each team. Football was played with 11 players in 1900, but then players ran less than today, had less power, were less fast. So maybe it would be a good thing to reduce the number of players, to free up space on the pitch," Platini said.

The legendary former French footballer held the position of UEFA president from 2007 to 2015.
