Germany defeated Denmark 2-0 to advance to the quarter-final stage of the European Championship.

The first half ended in a scoreless draw, with the main protagonist being the storm that forced referee Michael Oliver to stop the match for a full 23 minutes.

In the second half, Denmark found a goal in the 48th minute through Andersen, but it was all canceled out for a millimeter offside.

5 minutes later, a slight handball in the area by Andersen was considered enough for the VAR room to call the referee to repair the episode. After watching it once again on the monitor, the referee was convinced to award the 11-meter.

Kai Havertz was accurate from the penalty spot to give Germany the lead.

The peace goal was scored by Jamal Musiala, in the 68th minute, with the striker making no mistake in front of Schmeichel.

Germany now awaits the winner of the Spain-Georgia match in the quarterfinals.
