Agreement reached, Mario Mitaj transferred to Serie A

Mario Mitaj will continue his career in Serie A. Genoa has reached an agreement with Al Ittihad for the transfer of the Albanian defender, on loan with an option to buy.

The 22-year-old footballer will join Daniele De Rossi's team on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Mitaj was preferred ahead of Lecce's Antonino Gallo and Brest's Bradley Locko, while Genoa also beat Porto to his services. According to reports, the player himself agreed to give up part of his salary to make the transfer happen.

Mitaj started his career at AEK, then played for Lokomotiv Moscow and in 2024 moved to Al-Ittihad.

He was previously followed by Juventus and Roma, and is now expected to embark on his first adventure in Serie A.
